Ingredients


For the cake:

  • 1C.Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ C. Granulated sugar
  • 1 ½C. All-purpose flour
  • ½ C. Cocoa powder
  • 4 heavy eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1C.Chopped pecans
  • 4C.Mini marshmallows

For the icing:

  • 16 oz.Icing Sugar
  • ½ C. Whole milk
  • ½ C. Cocoa powder
  • ¼ C. Unsalted butter softened

How to make a Mississippi mud cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar for the cake.
  3. Add the flour, cocoa powder, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Stir in chopped pecans.
  5. Spread the dough evenly in a well-greased 9 13 baking dish.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes until fully cooked.
  7. Immediately pour the marshmallows on top of the cake once it is out of the oven and let them rest. Once tender and melted, spread evenly over the top of the cake.
  8. Mix ingredients for icing until smooth and creamy.
